This weekend, the 2nd division team championship was played at Sandefjord GK. We congratulate the men with a great 2nd place!
Input - Friday 16.7.
Both teams had a good round at Sandefjord GK at its very hottest. Paul Nilbrink «played» around under par, and the others followed close behind. On the women's side, our strongest player, Aurora Orlin, unfortunately had to withdraw due to illness. Marie Taknes sportingly turned up at short notice and came down on Saturday morning with Kay Gundersen as her «private driver».
Day 1 - Saturday 17.7.
After the first round, which was played as a foursome, it was clear that the home club Sandefjord was hungry for victory in the men's class. The foursome teams Paul Nilbrink/Stian Pettersen and Henrik Franck/Edvard Hatle placed Holtsmark in a provisional 2nd place. Vigdis Fagerholm/Tone Bing Larsen came in at a provisional 5th place.
After a quick lunch, it was time for the second round of the day where Marie Taknes and Vigdis Fagerholm played bestball in the blazing sun and 30 plus degrees. For the men, a young and up-and-coming Maximus «The Gladiator» Nilbrink played together with dad Paul Nilbrink. Holtsmark's answer to Tiger and Charlie! The other pair in the men's class was Henrik and Edvard. Stian was «benched» and backed the guys through the round. They started well and went out from hole 10. On hole 12, Max grew at least 20 cm after driving out senior by at least 20 meters.
«The ladies got off to a great start and »saved" each other fantastically. It was fun to see the cooperation between the players on the team. On Saturday, a number of people from Holtsmark GK also came down to cheer on the club players. At the end of Saturday, the men were in 2nd place and the ladies in 4th place.
Day 2 - Sunday 18.7.
On Sunday, it was time for singles play. In the men's team, it was captain Henrik Franck who «benched» himself. Paul, Edvard, Stian and Max therefore became our players. The captain reported a somewhat difficult start for the guys, but eventually they started to score. Three out of four scores were counted and it was Stian Pettersen (79), Edvard Hatle (78) and Paul Nilbrink (68) who scored. In total for the tournament, the men managed a strong 2nd place with a total of +7. Link to the men's leaderboard. We congratulate all the guys on a fantastic effort!
For the ladies, it was once again time for a Vigdis and Tone show. As the team only consisted of two on Sunday, both scores counted. On her own birthday, Tone had a tough day on the course with 102 strokes. Vigdis came in at 92 strokes after intermittent good play on par, but where both the heat and «hole edge out» resulted in a few extra strokes on the scorecard. Despite that, our girls ended up in a fine 6th place. Link to the women's leaderboard. We congratulate all three of them on a brilliant effort!
